Superwisor, a Serious Game to enhance doctoral guidance

« Bonjour, avez-vous pu lire l’ébauche de proposition de recherche que je vous ai envoyée la semaine dernière ? » En tant que superviseur de thèse, quelle serait votre réponse ? Diriez-vous à l’étudiant DBA que vous avez lu et que vous avez envoyé vos recommandations ? Ou bien diriez-vous que vous étiez très occupé ces derniers temps et que vous n’avez pas encore eu le temps de vous y consacrer ? C’est justement une des nombreuses questions auxquelles le joueur devra répondre dans ce nouveau serious game « Superwisor » créé par Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM). Le jeu cible les superviseurs de DBA et PhD et les met en diverses situations de supervision, leur permettant ainsi de tester et améliorer leurs méthodes de supervision.

3 moments clés dans l'interaction entre superviseurs et étudiants :

« Superwisor » est conçu en trois parties. A travers diverses discussions avec les étudiants et le corps professoral de l'école doctorale, l'équipe de création a pu cibler trois moments clés qui correspondent à trois grandes étapes du processus de supervision qui ont un impact sur la relation superviseur-supervisé. Il s'agit de la première rencontre entre l'étudiant et le superviseur, la discussion autour de la proposition de recherche et enfin la discussion autour du processus de publication.

L'objectif est de motiver la réflexion et inspirer la discussion

« Chacune des trois parties du jeu dure entre 30 et 45 minutes. Les joueurs rencontrent donc diverses problématiques liées à la supervision doctorale, réfléchissent à la meilleure manière de les résoudre et prennent les décisions pour poursuivre l'échange avec l'étudiant. A la fin du jeu, Les superviseurs reçoivent une analyse détaillée de leur entretien et de leurs choix ainsi qu'une liste de six « bonnes pratiques » et ressources pour améliorer leur pratique. » raconte Hélène Michel, professeure en management de l'innovation en charge des serious games. « L'objectif est de motiver la réflexion sur les pratiques actuelles et inciter à la discussion entre collègues » ajoute-t-elle.

Fonctionnement du jeu

Au début de chaque partie, le joueur reçoit quelques informations concernant l’expérience de l’étudiant. La mise en situation commence et une conversation s’installe entre l’étudiant et le superviseur. Rapidement, le superviseur devra mettre en pratique ses connaissances en technique de supervision. Le joueur dispose alors de trois choix de réponses et doit donc décider de ce qui lui semble le plus pertinent pour faire avancer l’étudiant dans sa réflexion. Après une douzaine de questions, le joueur reçoit une analyse qui comporte six dimensions testées lors de sa partie. Le joueur obtient alors un score sur chaque dimension, une analyse sur la performance et des outils pour en savoir plus sur chacun des paramètres testés. Les superviseurs sont encouragés à jouer en duo ou en groupe. A partir des phases de test et des retours générés par les superviseurs, le jeu a pu être affiné, optimisé et amélioré afin de le rendre le plus réaliste possible.

  • Modalités d’achat pour des modules de formation en supervision avec des experts de l’école doctorale. Le jeu a été développé par Grenoble Ecole de Management avec l’aide des étudiants du programme MSc International Human Resources Management 2016-2018 et une équipe internationale d’étudiants de GEM et du MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology, USA, part of the MIT France Programme), et le Pôle Supérieur de Design.
