New Dean appointed to lead Research

Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) has appointed Charles-Clemens Rüling, professor of organization theory, as its new Associate Dean for Research. His long standing experience in conducting and managing high-level academic research, his publication experience, and his strong interest in the translation of academic research into organizational practice make him an ideal choice for guiding the future of research at GEM.

About Charles-Clemens Rüling

Professor Rüling joined Grenoble Ecole de Management in 2002. Born in Germany, he holds a Masters degree in economics and business administration (University of St. Gallen, Switzerland) and sociology (University of Geneva, Switzerland), a doctorate in social and economic sciences from the University of Geneva, and a post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in business administration (Université Savoie Mont Blanc, France).

He is a specialist in qualitative methods, and he has conducted award-winning research on mechanisms of institutional change and maintenance, on the deployment and adoption of management ideas, on as well as on entrepreneurial behavior. His work was published in a wide range of academic journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Small Business Economics. Charles-Clemens Rüling is the author of several books; he currently serves as an associate editor of the journal Long Range Planning and as the co-ordinator of Grenoble Ecole de Management's Research Center for Public Trust in Health.
