Silvia Gherardi is one of the founders and currently the responsible of the research unit RUCOLA (Research Unit on Communication, Organizational Learning, and Aesthetics).
She has carried out a large number of researches and realized publications on the themes that have become the central object of the research unit RUCOLA studies.
She is present from several years in the principal international networks of organizational studies and she is a board member of various international journals.
She has been president of the European Group for Organizational Studies (1997-2000) and took part in the scientific committee of the Associazione Italiana di Sociologia-ELO (1993-1996).In September 2005 she received the degree of "Doctor Honoris Causa" from the Department of Social Sciences of the Danish Roskilde University. In July 2007 she received the Honorary Membership of the European Group of Organizational Studies. In June 2010 she received the award of Honorary Doctor from the University of Kuopio (now University of Eastern Finland).
Silvia Gherardi is the first professor of the Faculty of Sociology to receive this degree from other universities.
At the present she is part of the Doctoral School of Sociology in Trento and coordinator of the Master “Gender Policies in the Labour Market”.
Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, Antonio Strati received his education (secondary school) in Florence. He holds a BA in Sociology (University of Trento, 1974) and in Humanities (University of Florence, 1976). He specialized in Action Research in Organization Studies at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (London, 1982).
Senior professor of sociology of innovation and organization at the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento, Italy, and chercheur associé at i3-CRG, École polytechnique, CNRS, Université Paris-Saclay, France, is both a sociologist and an art photographer.
Former vice-dean of the Faculty of Sociology, he was president of the Master Degree in Work, Organization and Information Systems, University of Trento, and coordinator of the teaching programme on qualitative methods in social research of the Doctoral School in Sociology and social research of Trento.
He is a founder-member of the Research Unit on Communication, Organizational Learning and Aesthetics ( of the  Department of Sociology and Social Research, University of Trento, and of the international network of academics and practitioners Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism (SCOS).
He sits on the Editorial Board of the international journals: Culture and Organization; Management Learning; Organization; Organizational Aesthetics; Qualitative Sociology Review; Revista Interdisciplinar de Gestao Social; Serbian Journal of Management;   Sociology Compass - Work & Organization. Previously, he was a member of the Editorial Board of Aesthesis. International Journal of Art and Aesthetics in Management and Organizational Life; Dragon, the Journal of SCOS ; Studies in Cultures, Organizations, and Societies (co-founder member).
His academic work focuses on organizational symbolism and the aesthetic approach to study organizational life, while his artistic research focuses on conceptual photography.
